I HAVE BEEN ADDICTED TO ACTING SINCE I WAS 13 YEARS OLD SAYS NOLLYWOOD - ACTOR LINDA OBASI.

American trained actor Linda Obasi shared stories of how her acting career

started in a program called Good morning Abuja Showing on Nigerian Television

Authority NTA channel 5.


The actor who was asked how she has grown her brand over the years as an actor

and producer took her swell time to share her shocking story.


According to Linda Obasi, “I started my acting career at the age of 13 when I was

featured in school drama tittle “Oliver Twist”. Being a shy girl who was asked to

play a villain, an old man who sends his boys to go and steal and bring money to

him, was an adventure that triggered a part of her that she never knew and ever

since then “I have been addicted to acting,” she says.

The actor was also asked how her family supported her acting career.

“I was studying to be a doctor but I switched my major to film. The day I shared

my decision to become an actor was like a funeral day in my family. They couldn’t

hide their disappointment. To them, I had lost a bright future, but I understood

something about acting that they didn’t. Acting is a calling, for me. Lately, all of

the painful sacrifices are finally beginning to pay off.”


Nollywood actor Linda Obasi earned a Masters Degree in Acting at The Theatre

School, DePaul University in the United States after earning a Bachelors Degree in

Film from Cornell University. After seven years of training and study of her craft,

and years of performing on theatre and film throughout the United States, Linda

Obasi made up her mind to come back home not only to practice what she

learned abroad but to share her knowledge with other filmmakers and actors for

free.

Linda Obasi has trained and impacted thousands of Nigerian actors with free

webinars and seminars on acting as well as an upcoming intensive acting seminar

at the Uzzitz Center for the Arts and Culture. She has taken a step further to

develop the most active casting app in Nigeria, EnyiCast, where upcoming actors

can browse and apply for auditions and casting calls posted daily by casting

people nationwide.


Only months from its 2022 launch as an app (it was previously launched as a

website) EnyiCast is already the largest employment hub for actors in Nigeria,

with hundreds of jobs posted monthly nationwide. Nearly 1,000 jobs have been

posted since its August launching.



While in Nigeria Linda Obasi has featured in close to dozen films and TV series as

she is known for her excellent character delivery.
